A.
Verify
your encryption settings (2000)
- Click
on the Windows Start button, select Settings and choose
Control Panels and click on Network and Dial Connection
icon .
- Right-click
the 550access icon.
- Select
Properties.
- Select
the Security tab.

- Under
Security Options, ensure that the option labeled Allow
unsecured password is selected.
- Click
OK.
- Close
the Network Connections window.
- Retry
the 550access connection.

Verify modem settings
(2000)
- Click
on the Windows Start button click on Settings.
- Select
Control Panel.
- Double-click
the Phone and Modem Options icon and select the Modems
tab. If you already have a modem set up, you will see
a window beneath the words "The following modems
are installed."

- Click
once on the modem that is installed to highlight it
and click on the Properties button.
- Select
the Modems tab.

6. Under Maximum Speed, select the appropriate port
speed for your modem. For 14.4 modems use 19200, for 28.8
modems use 38400 and for 56k use 57600.

7. Select the Advanced tab.
8. Click on the Change Default Preferences button.

9. Under Call Preferences, ensure that the Cancel
the call if not connected within box is unchecked.
10. Select the Advanced tab.

- Ensure
that the following settings are correct:
- Data
Bits: 8
- Parity:
None
- Stop
Bits: 1
Note:
Some modems may not allow you to change the call preferences.
- Click
OK and OK again to return to Control Panel.
- Double-click
the Network Connections icon in Control Panel.
- Right-click
the 550access icon.
- Select
Properties.

- On
Connect using, ensure that the correct modem is selected.
- Click
on the Configure button.

- Ensure
that the Maximum Speed settings match your modem.
- If
you have a 28.8 or 33.6 modem, select 38400.
- If
you have a 56k V.90 or Flex modem, select 57600.
- Click
OK then OK again and close Network Connections.
- Try
logging on to 550access again.
