To resolve this issue, first try using an alternate access number, if one is available. For a list of available access numbers, click here.
              Important: Contact your local phone company to ensure the access number is local.

A. Verify your Server Type settings

  1. Click on the My Computer Icon, select Dial Up Networking.
  2. Right-click the 550access icon.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Select the Server Type.

  1. Make sure all the options match with what you see on your computer and the picture here..
  2. Click OK.
  3. Close the Network Connections window.
  4. Retry the 550access connection.

B. Verify modem settings

  1. Click on the Windows Start button.
  2. Select Settings and choose Control Panel.
  3. Double-click the Modem  icon. If you already have a modem set up, you will see a window beneath the words "The following modems are installed."

  1. Click once on the modem that is installed to highlight it and click on the Properties button.

   5.   Under Maximum Speed, select the appropriate port speed for your modem. For 14.4 modems use 19200, for 28.8 modems use 38400 and for 56k use 57600.

   6.   Click on the Connection button.

  1. Under Call Preferences, ensure that the Cancel the call if not connected within box is checked and is set to 60 sec or 120 sec.

  10.  Ensure that the following settings are correct:

  • Data Bits: 8
  • Parity: None
  • Stop Bits: 1

             Note: Some modems may not allow you to change the call preferences.

  1. Click OK and Close Then click on My Computer.
  2. Double-click the Dial Up Networking icon.
  3. Right-click the 550access icon.
  4. Select Properties.

   15.  On Connect using, ensure that the correct modem is selected.

   16.  Click on the Configure button.

  1. Ensure that the Maximum Speed settings match your modem.
    • If you have a 28.8 or 33.6 modem, select 38400.
    • If you have a 56k V.90 or Flex modem, select 57600.
  2. Click OK then OK again and close Dial Up Networking.
  3. Try logging on to 550access again.
