September 2003 – 550 Access
has launched the latest version of its browser.
The version 3.0.09 is offered for free, as a “whole”
product which can be used as standalone software
or as a complement to the 550Access dialup service.
Besides including host of feature upgrades and
a very attractive looking interface, the uniqueness
of this browser lies in the high degree of comfort
that even a novice user enjoys while surfing.
According to John Smith, Vice President, “The
user-friendliness of the version makes it feasible
to intuitively manipulate, customize, or alter
the variety of possible controls and settings,
most of them accessible from main screen.”
Notable features of the browser include:
-
Tab-browsing,
also known as MDI (multi-document interface)
enables most organized surfing. It opens several
sites and windows within one task window. No
more clutter of task bar and confusing windows.
Each window can be closed individually or all
windows can be closed simultaneously with just
one click.
-
Privacy
Manager ensures complete control of
privacy by allowing users to clear any or all
of the information stored by the browser or
on hard disk with a single command. This includes
history of websites viewed, cookies, list of
favorites, forms and passwords, recent documents
list, recycle bin, windows temporary folder,
and more. Users can even schedule automatic
clean-up at specific times.
-
Pop-up
Protection gives a smooth surfing experience.
The feature uses smart-filtering technology
to efficiently block pop-up and pop-under ads
(including MSN messenger pop-ups). Users can
block all pop-ups or specify their own settings
to discriminate between desired and undesired
pop-ups.
-
Speed of browsing
is enabled via Groups and Shortcut
features. Users can create groups of similar
websites and open them all at once by simply
clicking on the name of the group in the task
bar. For example, one can create a group of
all news sites viewed regularly. This eliminates
the hassle of typing the name of each site individually
or missing out on viewing any particular site
within any group. Users can also create easy
shortcuts to favorite sites. This avoids the
hassle of typing lengthy names each time or
annoyance of getting ‘Page not found’
messages because of mis-spelt addresses.
The browser can
be downloaded for free from the company website
www.550access.com
or from
www.download.com.
